Does anyone have a good frosting recipe? Just a regular ole vanilla frosting that I can add food coloring to. Thanks!

while you're at it, anyone got a good sugar cookie recipe that doesn't involve actual egg replacer?

I don't have an actual recipe, but I wonder if mashed bananas would work well? I'm sure they'd add yummyness to the flavor.

As for the egg I found this on a vegan site
1 Tablespoon flax seeds plus 3 Tablespoons water replaces one egg. Finely grind 1 tablespoon whole flaxseeds in a blender or coffee grinder, or use 2 1/2 tablespoons pre-ground flaxseeds. Transfer to a bowl and beat in 3 tablespoons of water using a whisk or fork. It will become very gooey and gelatinous, much like an egg white. In some recipes, you can leave the ground flax in the blender and add the other wet ingredients to it, thus saving you the extra step of the bowl.

For your frosting I would just use powdered sugar, a dash of vanilla and enough soy milk or soy silk creamer to make is spreadable or drizzable whichever you prefer.

You want to add a bit of salt to your frosting as well--anything you add vanilla to does well with just a bit of salt.

I was told that a little bit of salt in baked goods just make the flavors "pop". I tried that with the muffin recipe I use at work and that seems to be the case.

I would strongly suggest using a tablespoon or two of earth balance in the frosting... it gives it a very rich flavor.... and the salt... but just a dash.

the best tip i've learned recently is that salt goes in EVERYTHING.

And if you use enough powdered sugar, the cookies shouldn't get soggy at all.

A simple royal icing is made with powdered sugar, milk and vanilla for flavor. It is simple to exchange soy or rice milk for the milk. The proportions are about 2 cups powdered sugar, about 1/4 tsp vanilla and maybe 2 tbs of milk. The consistency wont make your cookies soggy, it actually dries hard and you can add food color to make colors. The icing should drizzle off the spoon or knife or whatever you use to stir it. If it feels too stiff add a tidbit more milk but it doesnt take much.....
