i make it tomorrow, so i hope the replies come fast!
i found several that sound decent, but its hard to choose. a recipe thats hard to screw up and without so many ingredients, but still delicious, would be perfect. XD

Re: best and easiest GRAVY recipe?
Wed, December 24, 2008 - 3:37 AMthanks! i already made one batch of a recipe almost identical, only it said to add all the ingredients at once, lol. it worked, but i suspect that sauteeing the onion and garlic first will release more flavor, ill make this one for the next batch cus i think we'll run out XD -

Re: best and easiest GRAVY recipe?
Wed, December 24, 2008 - 9:26 AMalong with onions and garlic try some well chopped mushrooms. they'll give it that almost meaty flavor that is hard to replicate. use chanterelles if you can find 'em. they're so effing good. porcini also work wonders. -

Re: best and easiest GRAVY recipe?
Sun, December 28, 2008 - 1:33 PMI'd probably use arrowroot but that's a mix in type of process not a roux. I think you have to use sweet rice flour not just the regular kind. Check this out: www.celiac.com/articles/8.../Page1.html
If you can, test it before serving it to guests, that way there won't be any surprises! -

Re: best and easiest GRAVY recipe?
Fri, January 2, 2009 - 1:21 AMtom, thanks for the recipe, it turned out even better than the one i used before! i have problems eating the gravy plain if theres any leftover, even dipping my finger in the pot and licking it. i have a huge salty-tooth, and no sweet-tooth X3
however i cannot eat any mushrooms, short of the magic ones. since i was a kid even a tiny piece of mushroom in my mouth would make me spit it out. did you know their DNA is more similar to animals than plants? -

Re: best and easiest GRAVY recipe?
Fri, January 2, 2009 - 9:36 PMi've got a mycologist friend that tells me that all the time. says it's not vegan. it's still not an animal, so i eat them with great gusto!
