So, my big sad face when switching to vegan is that I do enjoy some cheese. I don't want tons of it, but I like the taste!! I tried a few varieties (Follow Your Heart, etc), and was sorely disappointed. I just found this brand, Bute Island, that has "Sheese". It's completely vegan, and CRAZY DELICIOUS, with the exact taste and texture of cheese!!! Apparently you can buy it online, too!

Re: Vegan Cheese that TASTES like cheese!?!
Tue, January 13, 2009 - 9:38 PMToo bad they don't sell it in health food stores, or a Whole Foods or something in America. At least according to their website. I'm not one to order food over the internet. I'd rather go without cheese altogether. I've become used to cheese-less food now. But if I ever do see Sheese for sale at one of the stores I shop at, I'll buy it. I've heard about how good it is several times now. -

Wed, January 14, 2009 - 9:56 AMthe trick with follow your heart is that you've got to do something with it. like making a quesadilla or something. on it's own it isn't that great.

Thu, January 15, 2009 - 1:46 AMUnfortunately my guess is that I probably bought it at Rainbow, but I'm not 100%. Perhaps you could suggest it to WF if they don't have it? It really is delicioso!!! -

Re: Vegan Cheese that TASTES like cheese!?!
Thu, January 15, 2009 - 10:40 PMThanks, that's very helpful. There isn't a store near me. But I'll check back now and then, and maybe one will be added. I'll suggest getting it at the Natural Grocery in Berkeley. They're the kind of store that would carry it. -

Re: Vegan Cheese that TASTES like cheese!?!
Fri, January 16, 2009 - 5:59 PMI've been re-living the processed cheese from my childhood lately with Tofutti slices. It makes a decent toasted or grilled cheese sandwich .
I haven't tried the Sheese yet, the price tag always dissuades me. But if it's anything like the Cheezly stuff i enjoyed in Europe, it's probably worth it. -
